Working Together for a Low Carbon Future

PhD Researcher
Irene obtained a BSc and ME in Electrical Engineering from University College Dublin, she then worked as a consultant in energy trading in both spot and forward financial markets and in European energy trading regulation. In 2017 she started her PhD research, which is focused on analysing the value of flexible assets, such as energy storage, in short-term electricity and ancillary service markets. As part of her PhD research, Irene works on the modelling of electricity markets, in particular using unit commitment models, analysing the economic and technical value of flexible generation and storage assets and addressing market design challenges that arise as a result of growing renewable energy shares.
